Good saw, not great
Ergo is fine, saw does what you'd expect, except it seems to struggle cutting through material that shouldn't present a challenge. I was ripping some 5/8" plywood siding, and I had to go fairly slow to keep the saw from stalling. Maybe I just had too high of expectations from a saw with the Makita name on it.

Good value for a solid hypoid saw
Very impressed with the appearance and usefulness for a 'reconditioned' product, looks and runs like new. Cannot detect that it had been used previously. Makita products are well designed and quiet running.

Wet Stone Cutting w/ GFI and water feed
Makita Hypoid Saw is used for cutting stone, engineered stone and cast concrete for countertop fab. Used with wet continuous rim diamond stone blade and water feed + GFIC for safety. Used on a track with recirculating water feed to capture stone kerf waste. Does not overheat with medium feed pressure and pretty good blade life when cutting under 1" slabs. Seems to have better power than the Skil Bosch wormdrive saws when run under identical conditions. Sealed hypoid gearbox does not require maintenence or periodic re-lubing, compared to Skil Bosch Wormdrive. Otherwise both saws do get the job done at a much lower price point than dedicated bridge saws.

Outstanding Product
I've wanted a worm gear saw to replace my old standard circular saw. This Hypoid saw far surpasses my expectations. Very accurate and easy to view cutting guides produce straight cuts. Plenty of power to cut through pressure treated lumber. I've used the saw on several projects around the house cutting plywood, 2x4's and hardboard siding with ease. This saw does everything I need. Wish I'd bought one sooner.

Great saw. Exceptional value.
This is great value for a saw that offers so much. The power of the saw and the versatility of uses make it a great choice for both ripping and cross-cuts. Very well-made even with the plastic motor housing. I highly recommend this saw as a step up from any direct drive circular saw. This will be my go-to saw for many applications.
