Got it for free, couldn't live without!
I got this for free with a mail in form with the purchase of a big LXT combo kit last year, I got it on a lark, not really foreseeing any serious use of it.

When it arrived I laughed at its small size, for whatever reason, because I read the words "blower" - I expected a standard-ish sized leaf blower, not the case here. . .it's maybe the size of a Mac 10 or an Uzi, pretty small and very lightweight.

It has a dial with three power settings, 90% of the time I have it on 3, which is max, but it is nice to be able to dial it down for situations where you don't want too large of a volume of air to blow on something (like if you're using this to help dry a coat of paint on something, etc). As I mentioned in the pros/cons, the absence of a trigger lock is an oversight, it gets mildly annoying to hold the trigger down for the full 15-20 minutes this thing can do at full blast on one charge (which is impressive considering the amount of work the motor is doing). In a pinch, if I'm doing something that would greatly benefit from a trigger lock, I'll just cut off 10" of electrical tape and hold the trigger down with it temporarily.

I'm going to try to not sound like an infomercial or too sarcastic, but this tool seriously has added a convenience and expediency (to the cleanup of my tools, and work spaces) that I was somewhat shocked it was able to provide, and this is not something I would have ever gone out and sought sight unseen on its own merits, I'd have said it seemed frivolous.

Well, I literally use it every day - or at least every day I use any power tool for something, and other projects as well (cleaning out my A/C unit outside, and the coils inside, emergency quick drying of gloves on a winter day between snow blowing circuit runs, the fastest and most thorough dust off you'll ever do before painting or staining a surface, and yes - though it looks a little silly because it's so small, it does actually have enough power to blow the leaves off my back deck and patio if I'm having company over. This tool gives me the ability (since I don't own an air compressor) to really blow off all my saws really well after each use. . .I mean the list goes on and on.

And, if you're using LXT equipment you probably know the batteries charge up in 20min or less, so if you had 2 large LXT batteries, you could probably use this non stop if you kept swapping them out, though I don't know if you're using the right tool if you're doing something that requires you to use this nonstop for that long!

One more thing, I used some nice looking baseball bat grip style tape to firmly tape the nozzle on to the body, it had enough power to pop the nozzle off.

If you've read this far, I hope I've convinced you - just buy this thing! And this is coming from a Bosch guy, this is now one of the only Makita tools I actually own!

Hope this review helps people, I tried to put some effort and real examples in it.

Useful blower
Finding this little blower very useful and a complement (not replacement) to a 200 mph 2-cycle blower. Sufficient power, and light enough to blow out house gutters from a ladder. Grab'n'go handy to herd leaves/grass clippings/dust out of the garage, blow out the truck bed, clean off the driveway and sidewalks after mowing. Can herd light, dry leaves, but not big piles of compressed or wet leaves. Leave that to your gas blower.

While it has three speeds plus a variable trigger with good feel and can be soft as a cat's breath, I still don't "blow around" sawdust, as I feel it's always better to vacuum sawdust, cement dust, plaster dust, etc. into a bag, rather than inhale it, or drive it into every nook & cranny.

Although there's an optional vacuum bag and alternate hole for vacuuming, I would think running debris thrrough the turbine would greatiy reduce its life.

Pros
Easy To Use
I love it.
It's not a gas powered blower - I have a stihl for that. But this is incredibly handy around the house and workshop. I don't used compressed air anymore to blow things off. And it's very quick to blow debris away from the front doors. I already have Makita batteries so it was very worthwhile. Wouldn't buy it otherwise because of the price.

Easy To Use
Simplified my patio cleanup chores.
Sweep driveway, patio, garage. Portable, light, good power from compact size. 12 minute use time per battery charge is too short sometimes.

SPECTACULAR!
1.5% larger than a hair dryer. Very disappointing until you stick on a battery; then it is mind blowing.

It could not be better with a gas engine.

I am totally delighted. But then; it's a Makita

Unexpected usefulness
What a surprise. Everyone who has the batteries should have one. I have a larger battery powered blower, a plug in and a gas power unit. This baby fills a convenient niche of something small and handy making it convenient. It's nearly as powerful as my large heavy battery powered unit, but can be on the bench ready to use and not take up the whole table. I like to variable speed trigger and the three power levels. A lot of control for dusting off things.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
