Removes a lot of exotic hardwood, making quick work of contours and curves. Nice tool - as Makita usually is :0)...

Comments about 5 in. Disc Sander:

This is the ONLY disc sander that came onto the market around 30 years ago to replace the Clarke 5" sander.
They discontinued the heavy duty Clarke that was the 5" sander used by all the painters at the time probably because being manufactured with a metal frame and heavy flexable rubber pad it lasted forever. Clarke was more interested in large Floor and Carpet machines for a larger dollar return. Luckily Makita saw an opportunity and came out with this unit. Goog old USA, always on top of the World Market! It's changed little except for the number of copper windings in the motor, but it's still strong and "heavy duty plastic rugged".

This is the forth one I own and use two in my business. Great for paint removal and hogging off wood surfaces and grinding rafter tails, etc. This new model is well balanced and you can use it all day.

This item is a sander, and is not suitable for polishing a boat hull. A power polisher is recommended for polishing a boat hull.

                New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
                • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
                • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
                • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
